The Price

I think I decided to do a weekly post at the very least. I’m really excited because I have a few short story ideas, but I haven’t exactly had the time to write them down yet. Absurdism is a genre I’m interested in, but I’m not sure how many would understand the stories and the meanings that myself as the author put into the plot. However, that is the price of writing.

One of the the main events that has occurred within the past week is that Indiana has become the 20th state within the United States to pass marriage equality. YAY!!!!! I’m excited because I believe that love has no bounds in gender, religion or distance. I’m from Indiana so I’m really glad that it has been accepted. I know my state is conservative but it proves that we are moving forward. One of the greatest quotes I’ve seen about marriage equality is a simile:
“Saying that two other people can’t marry because of your beliefs is like saying you can’t order that doughnut at the bakery because I’m on a diet.”

On a final note, make someone smile today. Do something that the other person can’t pay you back for, whether that is holding open a door for a complete stranger or just giving a friend 15 minutes of your undivided attention. I do that when I volunteer at my local animal shelter. I socialize the dogs and cats. It gives me joy to see the animals pull through and bring smiles to strangers when they see them, either when the people are “just looking” or knowing which animal they want to adopt the moment they walk in.

Stay calm and carry on this week 🙂

Hello World!

Greetings, fellow internet readers.
*Phew* Glad I got that out of the way.

Call me Abnerdoodle. (I may choose to reveal more of my identity later, but it will be on my terms). On this blog I hope to post my own poems on here, as well as some of my muses or trains of thoughts.

As for what you should know about me…

I am a female college student. I have liberal views on the world, but hold more conservative ideals for myself. I play PC video games, write poetry, and I have a white tabby named Primrose Everdeen. I am an avid music lover, a geek to Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and many more fandoms. I like to read, play frisbee, and practice yoga. I play the piano and tenor saxophone. I aspire to be a high school English teacher in a few short years.

On this blog, I will talk about topics as small as how my wonderful cat Primrose is making me smile today, to more serious topics, such as gender and sexuality equality, violence, and how my generation has been silenced.

I hope that something I write will make you smile, or make you think critically. We need more critical thinkers in this world.
